Located north of Toronto, in the Bruce Peninsula County of Ontario, the Ciot quarry harvests one of Canada’s most precious and rarest forms of limestone—Eramosa marble.
Despite some similar forms of Eramosa existing along the Niagara Escarpment, authentic Eramosa was discovered in Wiarton in the late
twentieth century. Due to its geographic location and archaeological history, Wiarton furnishes the world’s finest Eramosa marble.
The Bruce Peninsula is part of the renowned Canadian Shield and was exposed to glaciers during the last ice age approximately 11,700 years ago, resulting in the creation of Eramosa.
The Eramosa marble was produced due to the tremendous pressure of the glaciers on the limestone below, creating the extremely beautiful brown marble. The quarry’s geographic location depict the colour of the marble.
The Ciot quarry is capable of providing any grade of Eramosa (A, AA, AAA) for projects of all sizes—regardless of location. For more information or inquiries regarding Eramosa marble, please don’t hesitate to contact our quarry operations manager.
